North Coast Strings Winter/Spring 2024 Session 

North Coast Strings offers three groups for adults age 21 and up: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. No experience is necessary for the Beginner group. The Orchestra One group (early intermediate to intermediate) requires at least one year of experience on violin, viola, cello, or upright bass, and an ability to read music at a basic level. The NCS Orchestra group (advanced intermediate to advanced) requires several years of experience, proficiency in reading music, and playing in positions.


FREE INFORMATIONAL SESSION

Saturday, February 10, 2024, 2:00pm

  • Get a sneak peek at the musical selections for the session.
  • Hear testimonials for those who have participated in the program.


BEGINNER GROUP

Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 4:00pm – 5:15pm
Single Enrollment Fee: $175
Upper Strings Instructor (Violin/Viola): Judy Coker
Lower Strings Instructor Cello/Upright Bass): Joe McNalley

This group is for beginners who are interested in learning how to play violin, viola, cello, or upright bass. No experience is necessary! 


ORCHESTRA ONE GROUP

Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 5:30pm – 6:45pm
Single Enrollment Fee: $195
Conductor: Alyze Dreiling

This group is geared to the adult intermediate player who has played violin, viola, cello, or bass for at least one year either recently or sometime in the past. Ability to read music is a must. Repertoire is in the early intermediate to intermediate student range. Focus is on learning repertoire, with limited time spent on technique.


NORTH COAST STRINGS ORCHESTRA GROUP

Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Single Enrollment Fee: $225
Conductor: Alyze Dreiling
First Violin Coach: Andrea Altona
Second Violin Coach: Judy Coker
Viola Coach: Jorge Soto
Cello Coach: Gordon Grubbs
Bass Coach: Joe McNalley

This group is for violin, viola, cello, and upright bass players who are comfortable with their instrument after having played for several years, either recently or in the past, and who have solid music reading and rhythmic skills. Repertoire is learned in its original unarranged form (not simplified). Repertoire for the Winter/Spring session includes:

  • Tomaso Albinoni, Sinfonia in sol minore, Si7 
  • Gyula Beliczay, Serenade for Strings
  • John Rutter, Suite Antique for Flute and Chamber Orchestra

PROGRAM ENROLLMENT

Enrollment is $175 for the Beginner group, $195 for the Intermediate group, and $225 for the Advanced group.

Enroll in two groups and receive a $50 discount!

REGISTRATION

Enrollment will open on January 19, 2024. You will be able to register online or in person.
